Dubai police patrol cars equipped with security cameras

More than 260 security cameras will be installed on Dubai police patrol cars, which will allow police officers to monitor what is happening on city roads in real time. The new monitoring system was launched as a pilot project in October 2008 and has shown its effectiveness. By the end of this year, about 15% of the total number of police patrol cars will be equipped with security cameras, and the system will begin to work fully.

The cameras installed on the machines will be connected via wireless technology to the monitoring system of the Dubai Police Department. Recording to the camera begins immediately after turning on the ignition. All video information received by the police will be archived. The new monitoring system, in the first place, will allow you to quickly respond to traffic accidents, traffic violations and promptly make decisions regarding violators. "The new system will accelerate the decision-making process, because police officers will have reliable information about how the offense occurred. We can also always monitor the situation on the roads and quickly solve problems," said the Chief of Police of Dubai, Colonel General Dahi Halfan Tamim.
