A charity concert in support of the construction of the first Orthodox church in the UAE took place in the Dubai Dolphinarium

One of the most significant events in the life of the Russian-speaking community in the UAE at the end of 2009 was a charity concert, which took place on November 26 in the hall of the Dubai Dolphinarium.

The purpose of this concert was to raise funds for the construction of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Apostle Philip in Sharjah. In order for the concert to take place, the leadership of the Dubai Dolphinarium provided its premises free of charge, in addition, at the beginning of the program, the favorites of the Dubai children, the dolphins Senya and Ksyusha, together with fur seals Gosha, Max, Sirloin and Lusha performed.

The main part of the concert was attended by well-known Russian singer Vika Tsyganova and People’s Artist of Russia, composer and singer Alexander Morozov, author of the famous hits "Raspberry Jingle", "Soul Hurts", "In the Land of Magnolias" and many others. The instrumental ensemble "Silver Strings" was accompanied by Vika Tsyganova and Alexander Morozov.

The concert was held with great enthusiasm and amazing warmth. The audience was about 400 people, many were with families and children. In total, 50 thousand dirhams were collected for the construction of a Russian Orthodox church. But most importantly, this charity concert rallied the Russian-speaking community and helped people imbue themselves with a sense of responsibility for their temple in the UAE!

The Russian Orthodox parish of St. Philip brings sincere gratitude to the organizers, artists and all the spectators who took part in this concert.
