The UAE was at the end of the ranking of the happiest and most harmless countries in the world

The United Arab Emirates ranked 123rd in a ranking of 143 countries compiled by British experts based on an assessment of overall life satisfaction and its comparison with the carbon footprint that the country currently has. The expert Sama Abdullah, who was part of the team that formed the Happy Planet Index rating, indicated that the problem of the UAE is the high consumption of natural resources. It was this fact that did not allow the Emirates, which showed high rates of life satisfaction, to get to good places.

The results of the study were largely unexpected. From the Arab countries, everyone was surprised by Saudi Arabia and Egypt, who took 12th and 13th places respectively. Worst of all things are in Kuwait, which hit 128th place. European countries were also in the second half of the rating: the Netherlands (43rd place) were recognized as the most successful of them. Great Britain came in at 74th place, and the USA at 114th. America, like the Emirates, moved down due to a large carbon footprint.

On the first line of the rating, compiled by the independent British analytical agency New Economics Foundation (NEF), was Costa Rica - the happiest and most environmentally friendly country in the world at the moment. Closes the rating of Zimbabwe. Information for the rating was collected in the form of a survey - respondents were asked to rate their satisfaction with their life in the country on a scale from 0 to 10. At least 1,000 people were interviewed in each country. Then the experts measured the answers with the data on the carbon footprint of the country and made conclusions.
