According to Reiman Yunus Peram, Director of Corporate Communications at RTA, the minimum fee for using taxi services in Dubai was introduced in order to motivate taxi drivers to carry passengers at any distance, including short distances, which, according to numerous customer complaints, taxi drivers do not want to go.
In addition to this, from April 1 of this year, a minimum fee of 20 drx (US $ 5.5) was introduced when boarding a Dubai taxi in the direction of the neighboring emirate of Sharjah. Recall that the taxi transport companies of Sharjah began to charge a fee of 20 drx from December 1 last year.
