Dubai International Airport Serves 50 Million Guests in 2017

Last year, 52.9 million people passed through Dubai's ports.

According to information published by the General Administration for Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) of Dubai, more than 52.9 million passengers visited the ports of the emirate last year. Of these, about 49.9 million people used the Dubai International Airport, which is 6.6% more compared to 2016.

Major General Mohammed Ahmad Al-Merri, CEO of GDRFA, said that despite the high level of passenger traffic at airports last year, employees at points of entry and exit made it easier for passengers to interact with these ports.

"We used the latest technology to provide our services - from smart gates to UAE Wallet - and worked around the clock to make the airport a hub of happiness for all travelers," said Major General Al Merry.

With 122 new-generation exits at all terminals at Dubai International Airport, the GDRFA made sure that travelers no longer stopped at passport control at one of the busiest airports in the world.

Equipped with the latest facial recognition software, “smart” outputs relieve passengers of the need to interact with passport control officers.

“Smart gates ensure that every traveler only spends nine to twenty seconds to get through them,” he added.

Last year, about 5.5 million passengers took advantage of them.
