The authorities of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah are looking for the operator of a new tourist complex on the highest mountain of the United Arab Emirates.
Haitam Mattar, Executive Director of the Tourism Development Authority of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, (RAK TDA) said negotiations are already underway with the potential operator of the new luxury camp on Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates.
At the Arabian Travel Market conference and exhibition in Dubai on Sunday, he said that the new camp will be built at an altitude of about 650 meters. It is equipped with 36 tent villas with private pools, an outdoor spa, a yoga area, a bar, restaurants and entertainment facilities for children of all ages.
Haytam Mattar added that the RAK TDA is currently in the final stages of camp design and in the final stages of operator selection.
"We are in the process of negotiations," he said. "We have an internal committee that, as they say, will open envelopes, and then we can decide which operator we will work with."
Management hopes to launch the project by 2020.
Mattar said that the idea of the camp was related to the fact that the camping format was becoming popular in these places.
“We watched the market for glamorous, luxurious camps, and this became a very popular trend. We thought that the weather on Jebel Jais is 10 degrees lower than on the coast, which, together with the natural landscape and beauty of the Hajar mountains, will give us a unique place for a luxury camp, ”he said,“ we were not going to build a hotel - we specifically chose a luxury camp. ”
