In Dubai, the introduction of a parking fee in the sand annoyed motorists

Office workers at the Dubai Business Center are concerned about the launch of paid parking at several towers.

Owners and tenants of multi-tower offices in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), Dubai, expressed concern about the introduction of parking fees on the sandy area, which employees at Mazaya Business Avenue and other towers regularly used to park their cars. On Sunday morning, most of the entrances to it were closed.

It turned out that the land was managed by Concordia and a paid parking zone was introduced on January 13. The company said in a statement that cars parked without permission limit access to the rear of the building and pose a safety hazard.

Parking permits will be issued to individuals per vehicle. According to tenants, the fee is 820 dirhams ($ US 223) for using a parking space for three months.

Employees of companies working in the towers consider the board too high and worry that their customers will not be able to find places for their cars.

The administration of the free zone reports that there are areas for short-term parking in the area, and additional parking on the sandy area will be provided for company customers.
