Transfer to Dubai Airport for passengers will be free

In Dubai, run free buses to one of the airports in the emirate.

Starting from Tuesday, April 16, 2019, free buses to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) will start operating in Dubai. The measure relates to the transfer of part of flights to this hub from Dubai International Airport (DXB). One of the runways (GDP) of this airport is being closed for reconstruction.

Buses will run between DXB and DWC every 30 minutes. They will be sent from DXB terminals 1, 2 and 3.

The southern runway DXB will be closed for 45 days - from April 16 to May 30 - for major repairs. To avoid canceling a large number of flights, a number of airlines are temporarily moving to DWC.

Redirecting flights from DXB will lead to an increased load on the DWC, but, according to representatives of the airport operator, everything possible is now being done to minimize inconvenience for passengers.

During the 45-day closure, DWC will operate an average of 145 flights per day, including flights from flydubai, Wizz Air, Aeroflot, Indigo, SpiceJet, GulfAir, Ukrainian International Airlines, Ural Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Kuwait Airways and flynas.

Airlines have previously warned passengers about the need to arrive at the airport in advance during repairs and check which terminal their flight will depart from.

“We advise all travelers to arrive at the check-in desk two to three hours before the departure time. We encourage all passengers arriving in Dubai to check their arrival airport,” the flydubai said in a statement.

Earlier it became known about the reduction in the cost of taxis for passengers arriving at the DWC. Dubai authorities ordered rates to be reduced by 75 percent.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: “We are confident that we are fully prepared for April 16th.
