Dubai residents can now pay installment fines

In Dubai, large fees and fines can now be paid in installments.

On April 29, 2019, Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, passed a resolution allowing the payment of state fees and installment fines. Now, individuals and legal entities in Dubai can be exempted from one-time large payments.

According to the decree, government agencies are tasked with preparing lists of fees and penalties that can be paid by installments and submitting them for approval to the Dubai Finance Department.

Fees that can be paid by installments should be included in the lists approved by the Ministry of Finance and should exceed 10 thousand dirhams ($ US 2.7 thousand) for individuals and 100 thousand dirhams ($ US 27.2 thousand) for enterprises .

Penalties that can be paid by installments should also be included in the lists approved by the Ministry of Finance and should exceed 5 thousand dirhams for individuals ($ US 1.36 thousand) and 20 thousand dirhams ($ US 5.4 thousand) for enterprises.

The installment period should not exceed two years.
