Starting from June 7, 2019, the Dubai airline flydubai began operating direct flights from Dubai to Sochi. Flights between Dubai and Sochi will be operated twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Flydubai is the first airline to offer direct flights on this route from the UAE and the Gulf Commonwealth.

Immediately after landing at the Sochi International Airport named after pilot-cosmonaut Vitaly Sevastyanov during taxiing, the board of the flydubai airline went under the traditional "water arch", and representatives of the city administration of Sochi met the arriving passengers, members of the official delegation and journalists from the UAE.
