Dubai cards can be used to pay in stores

According to Abdul Mukhsin Yunus, Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic and Corporate Governance Department of the Dubai Roads and Transport Committee (RTA), cards for using Dubai public transport can be paid at stores.

“The resource of the card system provides such opportunities. At the moment, we are only waiting for confirmation from the trading operators that they are ready to accept NoL cards for payment,” Yunus said. “I think that by the beginning of next year we will be able to introduce this new product "

Speaking about the creation of new pedestrian crossings and bicycle paths, Mr. Yunus noted that the first phase of the construction of paths with a length of 50 km has already begun.

Within its framework, paths will be built in several areas of the city, including Jumeirah. More than 800 km of pedestrian crossings and bicycle paths are expected to be built in Dubai by 2020.

Dubai authorities expect that by 2020 the length of the metro network in the city will reach a total of 3 thousand kilometers, and the number of passengers served per day will be 2 million people. At present, 300 thousand people use the Dubai Metro every day, and 380 thousand people use sea and bus transport. In addition, the total number of buses in Dubai will be increased in the next eight years to 2 thousand. Among other plans of the city authorities - the construction of nine new ring roads, 95 new transport interchanges and an increase of up to 100 tracks on the embankment.
