Dubai ski resort consumes less energy than a regular hotel

Dubai will install new solar panels in the ski complex.

Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort in Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, consumes less energy than a regular 120-room hotel, according to Enova, property management experts.

Enova CEO Ann Le Gunchen said that the reduction in energy consumption is associated with constant updates in the systems of the complex.

“We have been working on this site for over 12 years and continue to work to reduce energy losses,” he added.

According to him, the ski Dubai snowmaking process has been improved to help this process.

“We recently changed the way we use snow cannons. We realized that we can change the temperature from minus six degrees to minus four without any compromise regarding the quality of the snow,” he said.

Enova was established in 2002 as a joint venture of Majid Al Futtaim and French energy management company Veolia.

According to Le Günchen, work is also underway to install solar panels on the roof and facade of the Mall of the Emirates, which will also contribute to efficient energy consumption within the shopping center and ski resort in particular.
