Dubai police protect teenagers on the Internet

Teenagers will be able to contact the Dubai police using a convenient electronic service.

Dubai police make it easier for teens to file complaints. Young residents of the emirate will be able to report cases of cyberbullying (bullying on the Internet) and other offenses remotely, without visiting the site and testifying in the usual form.

To do this, the anti-cybercrime department of the police launches a new version of its service, which simplifies interaction with the service. It is aimed at adolescents and people with special needs.

Saeed Al-Hajri, Head of the Cybercrime Division, said: “For teens, we will open secure channels on our site that will allow us to contact us so that we can help.”

The service will help to deal with a difficult situation without instituting a criminal case. Often this is the procedure that scares away victims and stops them from contacting the police.

Lieutenant Majid bin Salem of the Cybercrime Division said: “On this platform, applicants should provide only some details of the incident. We will take care of the rest of the procedure and the person will not be required to be present in the police station. Now this application will only take five minutes.” .

He added that teens often hesitate to tell adults that they are in trouble on the Internet. The new system will help them overcome this barrier.
